The Crown producers reveal what will happen if Queen dies during filming

The sixth and final season of The Crown is due to begin production very soon, and appparently producers on the show have a 'plan' to hand if the Queen passes away during filming.

It is not a nice thought, but should the Queen pass away before production wraps, producers behind the hit Netflix series reportedly have a plan on how they should proceed, which they have dubbed their own Operation London Bridge.

Operation London Bridge is a plan, first created in the 1960s and updated every year, outlining what will happen in the UK immediately after the death of Her Majesty, including how her the news should be announced by the media, funeral arrangements and crowning her successor.

An insider working on the series told the New York Post that producers on The Crown have their own version of this plan if it just so happens that the Queen passes away in the middle filming.

Firstly, production would cease straight away and would not start up again for at least a week, and a discussion would have to be had about when to restart, depending on the circumstances.

The Crown has closely followed the life of the Queen since it first premiered on Neflix in 2016 and provided fans with an insight into the world of the royals- although it is stressed the series is fictional and a dramatisation of real events.

In the upcoming series five, which is set to premiere in November, we will be taking a deep dive into the Queen’s ‘annus horribulus’ involving the breakdown of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage and Diana’s death in 1992.

Joining the cast for this new series will be Imelda Staunton, who is replacing Olivia Coleman as Her Majesty. Elizabeth Debicki will also be taking over the role of Princess Diana from Emma Corrin and Dominic West will be playing Charles, with Jonathan Pryce in the role of Prince Phillip.
