Nicholas Cage is reportedly in “discussions” to star in a National Treasure sequel and another Face/Off movie.

The actor already has four films in the pipeline for the near future and, according to The Hollywood Reporter, he could be reprising his roles as Benjamin Franklin Gates and Castor Troy.

The publication has said Cage is currently in “various stages of discussions” to return for a third National Treasure film. In the summer, the film’s producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, also confirmed the script had been written and will be sent to Cage.

Speaking to, he said: “We’re working on the script right now. Hopefully [Cage] likes it, but it’s really good. So I think we’ll get it to him shortly.”

That’s not all, according to IGN, there is also a Face/Off 2 in the works and has been since 2019 and filmmaker Adam Wingard, who will be directing the sequel, has said he was excited to have Cage on board.

Speaking to Empire, Wingard spoke about the renaissance of Cage following his recent films like Pig and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

He said: "That’s become totally the obvious way to go now. A couple of years ago, the studio maybe would have wanted a hot, young, up-and-coming actor or something.

"Now, Nicolas Cage is one of the hottest actors in Hollywood again.”

The director also teased that while the screenplay is well on its way, it’s proving to be a challenging task living up to the original.

He said: “There’s so much pressure in wanting to make sure that it lives up to the legacy of that project. But every draft you have these things that just click in, and you’re like, ‘A-ha! That’s really what Face/Off is!’”

It sounds like we could be seeing a lot more Cage in the future.
