Pierce Brosnan has revealed he would have liked to play Elvis in a music biopic if the opportunity had come along.

The James Bond star was asked by NME if he had been offered the chance to play a musician in a biopic before. Brosnan said that he hadn’t but said that appearing in Mamma Mia was “closest” he had gotten to that sort of thing.

He said: “Mamma Mia is the closest I’ve got to singing and I love it. I did get a platinum album for my singing you know, so f*** the begrudgers! I got to sing with Meryl Streep! It was the last thing I expected but I king of got it. I understood the joke, the karaoke of it all. They didn’t employ me for my singing, but I loved it anyway.

The actor then when on to talk about who he would have played if he got the chance to appear in a biopic.

He revealed: “I don’t have a desire to play anyone in particular. I mean Elvis, but he’s been taken [by Austin Butler in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis], beautifully so.”

Most recently, Brosnan has appeared in the new Black Adam film, starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. He plays Kent Nelson/Dr. Fate in his first comic book role.

The actor spoke to virginradio.co.uk at the UK premiere of the new film and spoke about why he decided to take on a role like this.

He said: “It was the relationship between Hawkman [played by Aldis Hodge] and Kent Nelson, who I play, Doctor Fate. It was that brotherly love of life. It was about mortality, dying, being human, and this incredible Odyssey that they set forth on.”

Brosnan also revealed what he would say to the actor taking over from Daniel Craig as James Bond: “I do not give advice to any man stepping into those shoes, but be bold, enjoy it! You’re going to be brilliant.”
