Exciting news for movie fans. Mufasa: The Lion King has finally got its release date. The much-anticipated prequel story is landing on July 5, 2024.

Starring Billy Eichner, Seth Rogan and John Kani, the story is told through the eyes of Timon, Pumbaa and Simba, and is based on the rise of Musafa to his reign as king.

Director Barry Jenkins explained how working on Amazon Prime Video's The Underground Railroad helped his vision for the upcoming movie.

Speaking about working on a 'visual effects heavy' project for the first time, he shared: "It was something I always wanted to do.

"I was finishing the Underground Railroad when this project came to me and so it was great to be working in a very visual effects heavy way for the first time in my career. I'd done visual effects but not in this way at all."

He explained: "It was really great to get an inside look at what that process was like. It helped me understand that I could make this film."
