Star Wars fans must be in absolute dreamland at the moment. Not only has the new series, Obi-Wan Kenobi just premiered, but a new show starring Jude Law was announced last week, and now the trailer for a whole other Disney+ series has dropped. So much Star Wars content!
Andor, a 12-episode series, is a prequel to acclaimed 2016 film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which told the story of how the rebels got hold of the Death Star plans - a pivotal moment in Star Wars: A New Hope, as it enabled them to work out how to blow the darn thing up. You remember; X-Wings flying down the Death Star trench, “Use the Force, Luke,” “I have you now,” "Great shot, kid, that was one in a million.” All that was thanks to the actions of the heroes in Rogue One.
The new series will be set five years before Rogue One, and will follow the titular character, played by Diego Luna, who was Cassian Andor in the movie alongside Felicity Jones, who played Jyn Erso. The duo led a team of rebels on a mission to steal the plans. This new series will now focus on Andor’s backstory.
According to the official synopsis, the show will “explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.”

Alongside the returning Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, the series will star Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough and Kyle Soller.
Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi premiered on Disney+ on (27th May), and a new Star Wars series, Skeleton Crew, starring Jude Law, was announced last week.
Andor is set to land on Disney+ on August 31st, with a two-episode premiere.
