What kind of TV dream is this? Stranger Things producer Shawn Levy is hooking up with Disney+ to create a brand-spanking new, fist-heavy, robo-bashing series based on the sci-fi action hit.

Starring Hugh Jackman as retired fighter Charlie Kenton back in 2011, him and his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) transform and train up a discarded machine they find in a junkyard and turn it into a fighting champion.

Also starring Olga Fonda, Karl Yune, Evangeline Lilly and Anthony Mackie, the idea for Real Steel came from the imagination of Richard Matheson's Steel which looked into the future and saw human boxers replaced by gigantic robots.

According to Variety, Levy, whose other titles include The Darkest Minds, Love and Monsters and Night at the Museum, is executive producing the series alongside Jacqueline Levine, Susan Montford, Don Murphy, Jack Rapke and Robert Zemeckis.

It's unsure how the story will continue or start over again and feature new characters.

No actors or writers have been linked to the show yet as it's too early, but when they do you'll hear about it first here.
