We all presumed Boba Fett’s time was up when he was sent flying into the Sarlacc Pit in Return of the Jedi, didn’t we? However, we were wrong.
And, thanks to a new Disney+ series called The Book of Boba Fett, we’ll be seeing plenty more of the mysterious, and let’s face it, pretty darn cool, bounty hunter soon. And hopefully we’ll learn more about how he survived being flung, seemingly to his death, by Han Solo.
The Book of Boba Fett is a spin-off series of The Mandalorian, which itself was a spin-off of the Star Wars movies. The new show will focus on Boba Fett and his partner Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen).
If you haven’t seen The Mandalorian yet, then there’s a spoiler coming up, as the post-credits scene of season 2 saw Boba Fett and Fennec Shand taking over the former palace of Jabba the Hutt on Tatooine, where Han Solo made quite a nice wall decoration for a while.
Star Wars fans will know that Tatooine played a big part in the Star Wars movies. It was where Luke Skywalker grew up on his aunt and uncle's moisture farm, where he first met Obi Wan, and where he returned to face Jabba in the third of the original films. It appears that the sandy planet will be the setting for much of the action in The Book of Boba Fett.
"Left for dead, on the sands of Tatooine, I am Boba Fett," the bounty hunter says in the new trailer. You can watch it here:
Disney+ is also making another show about a staple character in the Star Wars universe, with Ewan McGregor set to reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in a series slated for next year.
The Book of Boba Fett season 1 premieres on December 29th, streaming on Disney+. If you want to catch up with The Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2 first, then they are streaming on Disney+ now.
