BBC confirms new 'heartfelt' Nigella Lawson Christmas special in Amsterdam

It's Goedendag — good day — from Nigella Lawson. The BBC has confirmed a new yuletide offering called Nigella's Amsterdam Christmas Special which will see her heading to her favourite festive place in the Netherlands.

The BBC One hour-long offering will join the food guru as she scopes out Christmas fairs, artisan food shops and her favourite go-to food stops, then rustle up some Dutch and Indonesian-esque recipes inspired by local ingredients.

A long-time fan of the city, the chef has been heading to Amsterdam over the Christmas period for decades and the special will showcase the festive hustle and bustle of the 'Venice of the North'.

Nigella says about the upcoming special shot in London and Amsterdam: “There is nothing better than being able to share enthusiasm and joy, and I look forward to showing viewers the unique magic of Amsterdam at Christmas and unveiling new recipes that, while drawn from the history, culture and ingredients of this breathtakingly beautiful city, give ideas for fabulous, fuss-free feasting here at home!”

Catherine Catton, Head of Commissioning, Factual Entertainment and Events, said: “We are really excited to be working with Nigella again and very much looking forward to her heartfelt Amsterdam-inspired Christmas.”

The prolific chef shared a throwback photo of herself and Nigel Slater in a social media post. She told fans: "I found this pic of @NigelSlater and me from that time (late-ish 90s, it must be) and thought I’d share it for your amusement!"

An air date for Nigella's Amsterdam Christmas Special is yet to be announced.
