The NYT's bestselling author, public speaker and all-round zen master joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky to talk about his latest literary offering on how to save on stress and yes - make life more Effortless.
He told Chris: “This book is an emotional book both because of how I came to it myself personally, but also because it now comes out at a time when I think it has the power of relevance.
“In a sense it's a shame because this book is for people who are otherwise capable and successful and driven, but they feel on the edge of exhaustion or the edge of burnout or even way past it.
“I just sense that that is true for so many people right now the world over after a year of getting through this pandemic.
“Effortless comes as, I hope, a bit of an antidote to that pain and so it looks like for me what ‘done’ looks like is individuals discovering there really is an easier way to do things, that not everything has to be so hard and in some instances we make things much harder than they need to be and so that's the awakening, I hope that can happen for people."
On the power of the 'one minute pause', he explained: "This takes many forms, but one of them is just the reset in the middle of this endless Zoom, eat, sleep, repeat world that we're in.
"It's not impossible or even unlikely to get to the end of the day and you're looking at your Fitbit and it's 300 steps and it's just this endless you don't even know what day it is type year that it's been.
"So the reset is whenever you start to feel out of control, you feel like other people's agenda is hijacking yours, it's just taking a moment. Okay, what really matters to me, what's important now?
“One thing I like to do is to try and create even a literal document with successes, things you're grateful for across your whole life and you just have it standing by so that one minute when you need to reset you can read it and you get back into a more effortless state, which I think we all would like to spend a bit more time in.”
