Euro 2024 is well underway, with both England and Scotland having played their first games in the tournament.

While England managed to secure a win (albeit a not-massively convincing one at times) in their first match against Serbia, Scotland succumbed to a 5-1 thrashing against hosts Germany in the opening match.

Joining the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with webuyanycar, talkSPORT’s Scottish Early Breakfast host Shebahn Aherne revealed how Scotland fans in Germany have reacted to the thrashing. She told Chris: “They've been an absolute credit to themselves in the squad. They've been a brilliant example of how to behave on football trips. The Germans absolutely love them. It's been the most fun. And even yesterday, there's clips of them walking through Hamburg, the Tartan Army, and England fans are singing, 'Scotland get battered everywhere they go,' and they're smiling and singing along!”

Shebahn has hosted Early Breakfast (5am - 6am) on talkSPORT since August 2023, and has been part of the talkSPORT team since 2021. Speaking about the WhatsApps the station received following the Scotland match, she said: “I almost removed myself from the app completely! I got absolutely torn apart, torn to shreds!”

Scotland now need something from their games against Hungary and Switzerland, and Shebahn told Chris: “I'm an optimistic person. Even for Switzerland, even for Hungary, I'm going in thinking we're going to win, right? We're coming out of that group. I like to be positive. That's the thing with English. You win last night, and nothing's good enough!

“Lighten up! You've just got three points in your opening game!”

All 51 games of Euro 24 are live on talkSPORT, and there is so much other coverage around the tournament too, aside from live commentary. The Early Breakfast host said: “We're trying to bring you the overall picture, the colour from Germany, things that you might not hear on the radio, the sights that you might not get to see. You can catch up with us on the talkSPORT YouTube channel. We're in the camp too."

“We get to go into the open training sessions. We get to go to the press conferences. We get to have those moments with the players. It's the same with the England squad. Faye Carruthers is in the camp with them, she beat Jordan Pickford at darts the other day. You can watch that on the YouTube channel. We've got Jeff Sterling live on breakfast, of course, from Germany. He's touring all over, following the England team. And then we've got our kick-off shows live too. But every single commentary from Euro 2024 is live on the talkSPORT network. So we have you covered.”

Signing off, she said: “Just remember, no Scotland, no party, and Scotland get battered everywhere we go, and we’ve covered all grounds! Okay?”

Last week, Alan Brazil rated Scottish versus German things ahead of the big game.
