Sex Pistols take top spot for vinyl single sales with 'God Save The Queen'

The Sex Pistols have claimed the number one spot for sales of vinyl singles so far in 2022.

A reissued version of the controversial single came out in time for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

The Official Charts Company has collaborated the data for sales for 2022 to date.

'God Save The Queen' originally charted at Number 2 back in 1977.

A limited number of special edition pressings were made available to fans.

The pre-orders for the single all sold out.

A limited edition coin and NFT was also released.

In second place on the chart was Taylor Swift’s 'The Lakes', thanks to a special Record Store Day release.

The song was originally included in the deluxe edition of Folklore.

Completing the top 5 singles are Suggs and Paul Weller with 'Ooh Do U Fink U R' at Number 3.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ 'We’re Gonna Get There in the End' and David Bowie’s 'Brilliant Adventure EP' landed at at Numbers 4 and 5 respectively.
