It’s not long now until the much-anticipated new Arcade Fire LP lands, and the band have given fans a further taste of what to expect from it by dropping another single, Unconditional I (Lookout Kid).

The new album, which is called WE, will be released on 6th May, and Unconditional I (Lookout Kid) is the third single from it. The new slice follows The Lightning I and The Lightning II, both of which arrived in March.

Frontman Win Butler announced the new single on social media, saying: “Unconditional I (Lookout Kid) is out now. There’s nothing saccharine about unconditional love in a world that is coming apart at the seams. WE need each other, in all of our imperfection.”

The post continued: “Lookout Kid is a reminder, a lullaby for the end times, sung to my son, but for everyone… Trust your heart, trust your mind, trust your body, trust your soul. Shit is going to get worse before it gets better, but it always gets better, and no one’s perfect.

“Let me say it again. No one’s perfect.”

Arcade Fire played the song when they turned up at Coachella earlier this month, and they also performed it during the encores of their recent run of Ukraine benefit gigs in New York City.

There is a good chance that the band will play Unconditional I (Lookout Kid) when they return to the UK this Friday (April 29th) to play a show to reopen London venue KOKO. Tickets for this intimate gig unsurprisingly sold out in a heartbeat.

The new album, WE, was first teased by the band in March, when they started sending postcards to their fans. The cards featured sheet music, with “WE missed you” written above it. In the bottom left corner was a mysterious symbol.
