What a legend!

Just when you thought Keith Richards couldn't get any cooler, he has announced an auction to raise funds for charity.

The Rolling Stones star has offered up a special guitar and NFT (non-fungible token) to be auctioned off.

He has teamed up with the “green NFT platform” OneOf for the auction, and funds from the sales will go to the Grammys’ music charity MusiCares.

The NFT art has been described as “a digital version of the signed guitar”, and comes with a four-second clip of Richards signing the instrument at New York City’s Germano Studios “as a seal of authenticity”.

Also up for grabs is the black Gibson ES-335 electric-acoustic guitar hand-signed by Richards. To keep your new purchase sage, a hard guitar case is also included.

If you're interested, the online auction is taking place over on Julien’s Auctions.

It's a landmark moment, as this is their first-ever NFT sale.

Bidding currently stands at $4500 (£3277) and has an estimated sale price of $6000-8000 (£4369-£5826).

The auction runs until the end of this month.

OneOf co-founder Adam Fell said: "We are honoured to be the platform to mint the first-ever Keith Richards NFT. “

Keith is music royalty, and we applaud him and his team for championing eco-friendly blockchain technology that can empower musicians for generations to come.”

NFTs are becoming increasingly popular for musicians as a way to earn extra income, at a time when touring isn't possible due to the pandemic.

Kings Of Leon and Whitney Houston are just two of the recent musicians with NFTs to have been sold.

Duran Duran and The Beatles also released some.

Could you ever be tempted by them?
