Billie Joe Armstrong and co are back with a belter of a new tune.

Their new single is called ‘Holy Toledo!’ and it’s taken from the soundtrack for Mark, Mary & Some Other People.

The film is a new rom-com from Hannah Marks, and it’s out in the US now.

Their new track is their third single this year, hot on the heels of ‘Pollyanna’ and ‘Here Comes The Shock’.

Green Day announced the single with their usual enthusiasm: “Damn right we’re tearing it up tonight.”

They added: “Let the trouble begin. Our new song Holy Toledo! from the movie Mark, Mary & Some Other People is out everywhere now – catch the film in theaters + on demand starting today!!”

The song begins in a stripped-back style with Billie-Joe wanting to go “where the trouble begins”.

It then speeds up to the fast, pop-punk style fans have come to know and love from Green Day.

The chorus features the lyrics: “We’re hell raisers/ Death wish cravers/ We’re running with razor blades/ Party favours/ Sex with strangers/ We don’t care what the neighbours say.”

Fans are currently waiting for their UK leg of the Hella Mega Tour with Weezer and Fall Out Boy in June next year, after it was delayed due to Covid.

Green Day recently shared a vintage performance from 1994 of their hit song ‘Basket Case’. They’re releasing a compilation of session tracks on December 10, featuring all of the band’s Maida Vale sessions from 1994 to 2001.

Last month they released a second limited edition vinyl, that fans can get their hands on if they subscribe to the band’s coffee company, Oakland Coffee Works.
