Eric Carmen, the singer songwriter responsible for smash hits like 'All By Myself' and 'Hungry Eyes' has sadly died.
His wife confirmed the tragic news.
Carmen originally found fame with his band the Raspberries before going solo. He formed the band with Jim Bonfanti and Wally Bryson, later joined by Dave Smalley after John Aleksic left the group.
'Hungry Eyes' became one of his biggest hits, after it featured in the much-loved film 'Dirty Dancing'.
Carmen's wife Amy shared a statement on the Eric's official website: "Our sweet, loving and talented Eric passed away in his sleep, over the weekend."
"It brought him great joy to know, that for decades, his music touched so many and will be his lasting legacy."
She finished the statement "love is all that matters... faithful and forever", taken from his 1977 solo album Boats Against The Current.
Raspberries split in 1975, with Carmen finding success solo, however one of their songs was used on the 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' soundtrack which introduced them to a whole new audience.
Carmen wrote 'All By Myself', which went on to be one of Celine Dion's greatest hits with her version of the song, and it also appeared in 'Bridget Jones's Diary'.
His songs featured in many soundtracks, including 'Almost Paradise' for 'Footloose', and 'Never Gonna Fall In Love Again' and 'Make Me Lose Control'.
He had two children with his wife Amy, Kathryn and Clayton.
