Ed Sheeran has shared a new song from his album, and a new video to go with it.

The new track is called ‘Boat’ and it's the opening track off his forthcoming album.

Ed says the song was written by the English seaside, and it was in the worst of winter weather.

It was the first song that Ed wrote for his new album, and he says it acts as a metaphor for depression.

The track "combats the struggles of feeling very low and not knowing how to break the cycle."

Watch the video below:

Mia Barnes, further cements the message, as Ed is submerged in the sea with waves engulfing him.

‘Boat’ follows up ‘Eyes Closed, and the song meant that Ed clocked up another record.

The success of the single meant he has the third highest total of number one singles in UK history, only coming in behind Elvis and The Beatles.

The single comes from Ed's new album '-' (Subtract) which is due for release on the 5th of May.

Ed opened up about what the album meant for him during a time of grief following the loss of a friend and health troubles for his wife, Cherry.

It was also confirmed that there is a new documentary coming all about his life, and it will give fans a sneak peek behind the scenes.
