The London-based band joined the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky to talk about their forthcoming album, and playing live again. They also delivered an amazing live session.

Sea Girls’ 13-track second album Homesick, which is out on 14th January 2022, was created partly on the band’s home turf of Brixton with long-term producer Larry Hibbitt, and also remotely in California with Grammy-winning producers Jacknife Lee, Jonny Coffer and Cass Lowe. Frontman Henry Camamile told Gaby Roslin and Ricky Wilson, who are in for Chris: “A lot of it we did in a studio with Larry in Brixton, when we were allowed. In a bubble in rainy Brixton. We’d send things off, and a lot of it was done in LA, [with] Jacknife being over there and stuff, so things would happen at night, phone calls would happen at night.”

He added: “It was great. We made something, it was a bit of a moment, and there was a lot of intensity, and I think it shows in the album.”

During their live session Sea Girls played Nothing Breaks Like A Heart, which is a cover of the 2018 country-disco song by Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus.

Within their awesome set was also Sick, which is taken from their highly-anticipated new album, Homesick, as well as Violet, from their EP Under Exit Lights, which was released in 2020.

Another song that Sea Girls played for us was Call Me Out, their self-released debut single from 2017.

Last week the band concluded their rescheduled, sold out, 11-date UK tour. In August, they played the Reading & Leeds Festival main stage. Henry told Gaby and Ricky: “It was just incredible. We did main stages, some of them for the first time, we did Reading, incredible. We’ve just done a tour to our amazing fans. That is one of our first kind of moments where it feels big.”

He added: “The contrast between what life was like when we were making a record, and that was the other side, it was incredible.”

The band’s recent tour culminated with their biggest headline show to date at a sold-out Brixton Academy. Of the massive homecoming gig, Henry said: “It was the perfect show that we’d been thinking about for a long time.”

Sea Girls are made up of vocalist/guitarist Henry Camamile, Rory Young on bass, guitarist Andrew Dawson and Oli Khan behind the drums.

The band’s latest single, Again Again is out now, and they will be embarking on a European tour in March.

Homesick is out on 14th January. You can pre-order it at seagirls.net
