Crispy handbag and fries, anyone? KFC has launched a meaty insulated leather handbag costing £198, designed especially to hold a precious Twister Wrap.
The limited edition 'Wrapuette' throwback 2000s Baguette bag is being sold via KFC’s online shop with all proceeds going to the KFC Foundation which 'supports grassroots non-profit organisations that empower young people across the UK, helping them to fulfil their potential and build a positive future'.
The much sought-after accessory is available in a pebbled or textured leather in red with Colonel Sanders face plastered on the front and charms spelling KFC, it is also handily lined with an insulating layer so your wrap won't go soggy.
A spokesperson for KFC said 'numbers are extremely exclusive for now' and it was 'made from Italian leather and handcrafted on Savile Row'.
“With inspiration taken from the iconic shape of the Y2K Baguette and a classic regal red finish, this bag oozes style and sophistication, far beyond the reaches of any designer,” a brand statement reads.
“Created with expert craftmanship, the piece is traditionally luxurious, with KFC Artisans working tirelessly to craft an unmatched level of perfection.”
“They’ve hit the nail on the head by going for the Y2K trend. The Baguette bag is iconic.” Hartley notes that the bag’s shape is a “bit more street” than that of the original Baguette.
Jane Collins, senior editor for footwear and accessories at WGSN, said: “It’s tapping into that social-media savvy Gen Z cohort. It plays into logo mania which was so key for that era, and also the high-low trend with its high price point. It’s going to be on eBay in minutes.”
