Joker 2: Footage shows Joaquin Phoenix filming action scene

Fan-filmed footage has emerged of Joaquin Phoenix being chased by a couple of lookalikes while shooting the new Joker movie in LA. 

The sequel to the acclaimed first movie starring Phoenix as the titular figure is called Joker: Folie à Deux, and has started production. A couple of videos have appeared on social media showing one of the action sequences being filmed. 

In the clips, we see the Hollywood star running through traffic and having his path blocked as a taxi door opens. He changes course and is then chased by two Joker-like characters, one of which was dressed in the same garb that the main character wore in the first film.

For his part in the scene, Phoenix is wearing a grey suit, and no clown make-up as he scarpers from the two people on his tail.

A second clip, from a different angle, shows another take of the same scene being filmed. 

In this one, one of the chasing stuntmen takes a tumble without coming into contact with a police car, as he did in the previous video.

Whilst director Todd Phillips can be spotted, there was no sign of Lady Gaga, who has signed up to appear in the highly-anticipated sequel.

Not much is known about what shape her appearance will make, but a first-look image of the musician was revealed on Phillips’ Instagram last month.

Details in general are pretty scarce, regarding what we can expect from the new movie, aside from the fact that it is expected to be a musical, and will land in 2024.

Along with Phoenix returning as The Joker/Arthur Fleck, and Lady Gaga making her debut, Zazie Beetz, Harry Lawtey, Jacob Lofland and Brendan Gleeson, will also feature.

Joker: Folie à Deux is set to be released on 4th October, 2024.
