She will also executive produce the Tanen Jones adaptation.
The force is strong with this one.
According to Deadline, Star Wars star Daisy Ridley has secured a new leading role in the upcoming Prime Video series, The Better Liar.
No word on a release date just yet, but in addition to her acting duties, Ridley will also serve as an executive producer for the show, which is based on the book of the same name by Tanen Jones.
The plot revolves around a woman who enlists a doppelganger to help cover up her sister's demise and inherit her wealth, but as the deceit unfolds, it unravels a perilous network of hidden truths. The Better Liar will be adapted by Raelle Tucker, known for her work on HBO's vampire drama True Blood.
Ridley has a busy year coming up. Not only has she got the aforementioned series on the way, but the British actress has teamed up with her husband Tom Bateman on new movie Magpie.
"It was my idea and my husband has written it, and I'm starring in it of course," Ridley shared with AP in January. "We have an amazing cast and an amazing crew, and it's very exciting. Yes, so we will be shooting for a month, fast."
She went on to discuss the challenges of filming on a limited budget and tight schedule: "This was also really a good experience in how to achieve so much with very limited money and very limited time, when you're thoughtful and everyone clubs together, and it's very intentional."
Ridley has recently been receiving critical acclaim for her role in the film Sometimes I Think About Dying. She is also slated to star in several other films, including The Marsh King's Daughter and The Woman and the Sea, as well as the TV series The Christie Affair.
Despite her busy schedule, the 30 year old has not ruled out the possibility of returning to the Star Wars franchise, in which she plays Rey.
In a recent interview with IMDb at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, she expressed her willingness to reprise her role, saying, "I mean, I'm open to a phone call – I am looking for employment."
