If you enjoy visiting a drive-thru restaurant and you love Indian food, then you’ll be excited to learn that the two have combined.

Yes, the UK’s first Indian drive-thru has opened, where visitors can get traditional Indian food, both sweet and savoury, on the move.

Whereas the drive-thru is more commonly the realm of the likes of McDonald's, street food chain Chaiiwala - which has over 70 stores nationwide and was originally founded in Delhi - has launched its first drive-thru in Bolton.

Early diners can tuck into an all-day Desi Breakfast and Sweet Bombay Toast, or, later on, there’s street food dishes such as the Butter Chicken Roll, Chilli Paneer, Gunpowder Masala Chips, Aloo Tikki Burgers, Mumbai Mac 'n' Cheese, and the truly delicious-sounding Chilli Chip Butty.

Meanwhile, the sweet-toothed can enjoy Cheesecakes and Sundaes.

And the whole thing can be washed down with Chai Lattes and Karak Chaii.

Speaking to The Bolton News, the restaurant’s co-founder, Sohail Ali, said: “This is extremely exciting news for Bolton and the UK in general as this is the first time the Chaiiwala brand has been created as a drive-thru concept.”

He continued: “This is a totally new experience for our valued customers and the first time they can experience our Indian street food in a drive-thru setting.

“This is the first time we have offered this concept and are delighted with the results."

If Bolton is a bit too far away from where you live, then don’t worry, because Sohail added: “Using this blueprint we are now actively searching for new drive-thru locations across the UK which will replicate the Bolton store model.

“Our drive-thru concept will allow customers to experience our products in a faster format while also having the ability to visit the store.”
