The Peripheral is the latest Sci-Fi drama series to land on Prime Video and viewers are already hooked.

Adapted from the book by William Gibson of the same name by Westworld’s Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, the streaming platform dropped the first two episodes of the new series last week and its fair to say viewers are on their edge of their seat waiting for more.

The series is set in a near future where technology has subtly altered society and follows the story of Flynne (Chloe Grace Moretz) and her brother Burton (Jack Reynor), who is a Marine veteran. Burton is hired for a security job taking place in what he thinks is cyber space, but Flynne temporarily takes his place.

As she fills in for her brother, she witnesses something that she shouldn’t have and discovers a dark secret.

As is often the case with sci-fi stories like this one, there is far more to it than can be summed up in a short synopsis and viewers of the show have taken to Twitter to praise The Peripheral after watching the first two episodes.

One person wrote on Twitter: “#ThePeripheral is fantastic. Only the first episode and I’m hooked. This is good stuff. Hope it keeps going at this pace”

Another said: “I've watched the first two episodes of 'The Peripheral' on Amazon Prime. It's honestly the best Sci-Fi show I've watched in years, probably since the first season of the ‘Stranger Things.’ Almost every aspect of this show is amazing - the visuals, characters, story, action, etc.”

A third tweeted: “Need @PrimeVideo to go ahead and release all #ThePeripheral episodes. I’m hooked after just 2…”

While a fourth wrote: “I am sold pretty much instantly on The Peripheral. Chloë Grace Moretz is utterly flawless casting. The absolute perfect choice. So much of the show is what I saw in my head reading the book. Other stuff isn't, but still just as interesting.”

The next episode of The Peripheral lands on Amazon Prime Video on 4th November.
