The first full trailer for the upcoming Weird Al Yankovic biopic has landed, showing Daniel Radcliffe playing the role of the popular comedian and musician.

The movie, called WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story - which is set to land in November - sees the Harry Potter star take on the titular character as the narrative explores every facet of his life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like Eat It and Like a Surgeon to his “torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle”.

The new trailer, which landed yesterday (29th August), follows a shorter teaser which was released earlier this year.

The new clip sees Radcliffe’s Weird Al first coming up with his comedy takes on original songs. He plays My Bologna on the accordion to the tune of The Knack’s My Sharona. Later in the trailer, Madonna (played by Evan Rachel Wood) turns up, and the two form a relationship.

The trailer sees the artist give an acceptance speech, in which he says: “All I want to say is, be as weird as you wanna be. You will never find true happiness until you can truly accept who you are.”

The film also stars Rainn Wilson as Dr. Demento. The actor is best known as Dwight Schrute from the US version of The Office.

Radcliffe previously told The Hollywood Reporter: “Wearing the Hawaiian shirt is a huge responsibility that I don’t take lightly, and I’m honoured to finally share with the world the absolutely 100 percent unassailably true story of Weird Al’s depraved and scandalous life.”

The actual Weird Al said in a statement: “I am absolutely thrilled that Daniel Radcliffe will be portraying me in the film. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the role future generations will remember him for.”

WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story will be released on 4th November via The Roku Channel, which can be accessed via Roku streaming players, Roku-powered TVs, and NOW and Sky Q devices.
