The Governess herself, Anne Hegerty, has weighed in on whether The Chase host Bradley Walsh would be actually any good at the show's quiz, also shares which celebrity she'd to see take on the challenge.

The ever-entertaining Anne Hegerty, better known as The Governess from ITV’s hit quiz show The Chase, has shared some juicy insights about the show’s beloved host, Bradley Walsh.

As the TRIC Awards 2024 unfolded in glamorous style at Grosvenor House, London, Anne didn’t hold back when it came to discussing Bradley’s potential as a contestant and her ultimate dream celeb to face the Chasers.

For those who have been living under a rock, Anne Hegerty is a quiz queen who’s been a formidable presence on The Chase since 2010.

Alongside her reality TV stint on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2018, Anne’s quizzing prowess has made her a household name.

But what about the man who’s been steering the ship since the show’s debut in 2009?

Could Bradley Walsh stand a chance against the brainy behemoths he moderates?

With nearly 15 years of guiding hopeful contestants through the nerve-wracking challenge of outsmarting the Chasers, Bradley has become a national treasure.

Anne, chatting to virginradio.co.uk and other press at the TRIC Awards, gave her two pence on Bradley’s quiz credentials.

She confessed: "He actually is better than you think. He very often pretends to be a lot thicker than he is. He is, you know, he used to be an engineer. I mean, I always say there are no stupid engineers. And yeah, I think he might very well give us a run for our money."

Who would’ve thought that the man famous for his infectious laugh and sometimes cheeky demeanor might have the smarts to rival the Chasers?

Bradley’s secret weapon could be his engineering background, which Anne insists is no small feat. Could he really be hiding a quiz titan beneath that charming exterior?

Now, there’s been some chatter about Bradley’s burgeoning career and whether it might take him away from The Chase.

With Bradley and his son Barney landing a colossal gig on the BBC’s reboot of Gladiators, his diary is filling up fast. But fear not, Chasers! It looks like Bradley isn’t planning on hanging up his hosting hat just yet.

Bradley has not shown any indication he is planning to say goodbye to the teatime quiz competition, and issued a statement when the news was confirmed, saying: "Wow! I can't believe that I've been asked to be part of this iconic show. I used to sit backstage, or in the audience, every week watching my wife be part of this juggernaut and now I get to co-host a new version of GLADIATORS!!! Saturday night family entertainment at its best…ARE YOU READY?"

As for Anne thoughts, she said that: "We hope he is definitely staying on The Chase. I mean, you'd have to ask the producers. I'm pretty sure at the moment, he's happy to stay."

Rest easy, Chase fans, it looks like Bradley’s staying put for now. Anne’s optimism about Bradley’s future with the show is a relief, considering the thought of The Chase without its ever-jovial host is almost unthinkable.

But that’s not all Anne had to share. When it comes to dream contestants, she didn’t hesitate to name a sports star who’s as iconic in his field as she is in hers.

A self confessed tennis fan, having followed Queens all week, she said: "I'm a massive fan of Andy Murray. You know, at his peak, I was just watching him all the time, and so that that would be fantastic."

Imagine the scene: tennis legend Andy Murray going head-to-head with The Governess in a battle of wits! Now that’s a match we’d love to see. With Anne’s endorsement, maybe Murray will take a swing at the quiz show circuit.
