Married At First Sight UK 2022: Meet the singletons heading down the aisle

If Love Island has left a big hole in your telly schedule, Married At First Sight UK 2022 is here to help!

The Channel 4 reality series, which premiered last night (Monday 29th August), promises to be bigger and bolder than ever, with a new batch of singletons ready to walk down the aisle with a complete stranger, all in the name of love. 

The official MAFS UK synopsis reads: “The couples will make a lifelong commitment to one another at a glamorous ceremony, overseen by a wedding celebrant, that includes guests, bridal gowns, dancing, speeches and cake. After the ceremony and celebrations are over, true love is well and truly put to the test, as they embark on a luxurious honeymoon, before moving in with each other AND their fellow couples.”

This new series will boast 30 episodes, more than the previous seasons, and love experts, Melanie Schilling, Paul C. Brunson and Charlene Douglas, will be there to help guide the newlyweds through their fledgling relationships. 

Last night, new couples Duka and Whitney, and Chanita and Jordan, walked down the aisle, but who else is set to tie the knot? Let’s take a look at the 2022 Married At First Sight grooms and brides!

Grooms

Adrian, 37

Manchester-local Adrian describes himself as a confident, caring northerner with a heart of gold. The self-confessed serial dater is ready to settle down after three years of single life, and is looking for someone to make him laugh, someone he can trust, and someone who is up for an adventure.

Duka, 31

Recruitment HR coordinator Duka arrived in the UK from former Yugoslavia at 10-years-old. His struggles growing up had a definitive role in shaping the man he’s become, and he finds it difficult to let people in.

Duka is hoping to change all of that on MAFS, and wants to find an ‘Instagram girl’ that loves looking after herself, but can also have a deep conversation about world issues.

George, 40 

Worcester singleton George is a financial advisor, but it’s his lovelife he really needs some advice on. 

The dad-of-four lives out in the countryside, but feels like something is missing, so wants to find someone who is an old-fashioned romantic like him, but also someone who excites him, keeps him on his toes and someone who can open up emotionally. 

Jordan, 29

Account manager Jordan is from Darlington, and admits he’s often too picky about what he wants when looking for a partner. 

Jordan’s open about his emotions and feelings. However when it comes to relationships, he is not willing to settle with someone, and wants to find true love and a real connection.

Kwame, 42

London lad Kwame is a confident and sophisticated business owner, and having lived it up across the globe, he’s a self-professed ladies man who is ready to settle down with The One.

Not only does he have a successful career and business, but he won Mr Ghana 2000 after looking for a confidence boost. 

Pjay, 31

Birmingham boy Pjay has got some smooth moves as a dancer, and is part of the world-famous Dream Boys dance group. 

Despite having adoring eyes on him while on stage, Pjay says he’s never found the right person, and has struggled with trust while he’s off touring. He’s looking for the mum seal-of-approval too, as the woman of his dreams will need to go through her first. 

Richie, 51

Richie is a sales advisor for Sheffield, and has worked in the music industry for 23 years. 

He’s appeared on a Russell Watson album, and also performed at his wedding, so he’s no stranger to getting attention from the ladies, but now Richie is after the love of his life.

Thomas, 31

Mental Health Care assistant Thomas credits himself with being extremely sociable, unapologetically loud and not one to back down, so is looking for someone to match his energy, but also balance him out. 

While he loves being the centre of attention, Thomas is after someone who will help bring out the other side of him. 

The Brides

April, 32 

London-based dress designer April is a former Miss Great Britain, and is determined to shed the label of ‘always the bridal designer, never the bride’.

April describes herself as a positive, bubbly sociable butterfly, who likes to live life to the fullest. She’s after someone who won’t mind her being independent, and forget not loving cheese, as that is a big deal breaker!

Chanita, 29

Social worker Chanita resides in Derby and has dedicated her life to helping others. She’s recently gotten out of a 10-year relationship, and now feels like she’s ready to find her Mr Right. 

With her career going strong, Chanita says her big ambition in life is to be happily married with a family and a stable home. 

Jenna, 32

Jenna from Blackpool owns a zero-waste shop, and never saw herself getting married, having previously rejected the traditional concept of tying the knot. 

Despite avoiding walking down the aisle, Jenna says she’s ready to love and commit to someone, and wants to build a long life together with her soul mate. 

Jess, 31

Dental Hygienist Jess, from Cambridgeshire, isn’t afraid of looking a bit silly, and is after a partner with the same energy. 

If she wants to do something, she will do it and does not necessarily think about the consequences, which has hindered her relationships in the past. Even with her previous relationship failures, Jess is all about finding someone to settle down and watch Harry Potter with. 

Kasia, 36

Successful business woman Kasia didn’t have the easiest of starts, having left school at 16 to have her first child. Since then, she’s managed to not only raise two children, but launch her own beauty business too. 

Now her children are older, Kasia is hoping to find a man she can settle down with forever, and is after a man who can take the lead, with the same passion and drive that she has. 

Lara, 49

Former dancer Lara lives in Nottingham, but is originally from Canada. She’s used to the luxury life and has been married and divorced twice, but life is very different now. 

Lara’s relationship goals follow on from her parent’s successful 51-year marriage, and after 12 years of single life, the waitress is ready for her fairy tale romance to begin. 

Whitney, 31

Whitney is a PA from St Albans, and is never short of male attention, and has been looking for someone to tick all the right boxes. 

Despite dating lots of different people in the past, Whitney is hoping to find someone on a deeper, emotional level, and is ready to give someone a chance. 

Zoe, 30

Quantity surveyor Zoe lives in the West Midlands, and works hard, but plays even harder. 

She no longer wants to be known as a serial dater, but instead, wants to settle down and start a family. Zoe is looking for a genuine connection, and someone who she can share her soft, intimate side with. 

Married at First Sight UK airs on E4 on Monday nights at 9pm.
