No matter what you do, it is impossible to melt a Cadbury’s Flake, and Virgin Radio’s Vassos Alexander can prove it.

Yes, that’s right- no matter how hard you try, you will not be able to melt a Flake, not even by sticking it in microwave.

If you don’t believe us, see what happened when Vassos attempted to melt the chocolate!

Firstly, he tried the good old fashioned method of putting it in a bowl over the hob, but after a few minutes the chocolate still held strong.

Next, Vassos attempted to blitz the Flake in the microwave, but even that did nothing to melt the chocolate.

Running out of options and desperate to get the Flake to break, he held the chocolate directly over an open flame on the hob, but instead of melting, the Flake just caught on fire and ended up very badly burned.

Not something that you would want to snack on!

Watch what happened below:

As Vassos said, Flakes do not melt no matter what you do!

Turns out, there is a very scientific reason behind why this is the case and it’s all to do with how the Flake is made.

It’s true that the Flake is made out of the usual Cadbury chocolate, however the way it is made is slightly different to your standard Dairy Milk.

According to Science Focus, the Flake’s manufacturing process means the way the fat and cocoa solids are arranged is different to other chocolate bars. This means the fat isn’t able to adequately lubricate the cocoa particles to the point where they flow, and so it can’t melt.

So, there you have it, backed up by science (and Vassos).
