We finally have our Love Island 2022 winners, and Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu have made their first statement together since being crowned champions.

They beat runners up Luca Bish and Gemma Owen, daughter of Michael Owen, to bag the £50,000 cash prize which, for the first time in the series, wasn’t part of a ‘steal or share’ segment between the couple.

In previous years, the winners would choose a card each, and the winning card would allow one half of the couple to decide to steal the prize money for themselves, or share it with their new beau.

After being crowned the winners, Ekin-Su and Davide broke their silence on the official Love Island social media channels, where the ‘Italian Stallion’ and ‘Turkish Delight’ were still in shock.

An elated Ekin-Su said: “Thank you everyone for voting for us and thank you for making us who we are.”

Davide continued: “I didn’t expect it – I still don’t believe it,” while Ekin-Su added: “I think everyone’s winners in here, and I just feel really lucky to be here.”

"We are all four great couples, but yeah, thank you for everyone,” Davide said of the runners-up, while Ekin-Su concluded: “Thank you for going on our journey with us - it means so much.”

Indiyah Polack and Dami Hope came in third, while Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page were fourth.

Both Davide and Ekin-Su were early additions to the series, both coming in as bombshells within the first two weeks, and had quite the rocky relationship.

Ekin-Su had a very brief fling with Jay Younger early on in her romance with the Italian businessman, with him labelling her a “liar and an actress”. Davide wasn't without fault though, with sparks flying over at Casa Amor.

Despite their on-going love-hate relationship, their fellow islanders and fans watching at home could see their time together wasn’t truly over, and they soon became inseparable.

Don’t be too sad that Love Island 2022 is over, as ITV have also announced that there will be not one, but two new series’ in 2023, with a winter and summer run yet to come.
