Marvel boss Kevin Feige has teased Deadpool 3 will be bigger and better than the last two films with a huge trilogy finale.
If you’ve watched Marvel before, you will know, from the likes of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, that they like to go out with a bang when a trilogy comes to an end.
It sounds like Deadpool will be no exception after Kevin Feige revealed to The Hollywood Reporter what fans can expect from the third film.
When asked about the highly anticipated Deadpool 3, the Marvel president said he wanted to take it a step further.
He said: “How do we elevate it in the way we’ve been able to with Civil War, and Infinity War and Ragnarok?
“It’s very fun to be in the world of the Ryan Reynolds show.”
The first two films were produced by 20th Century Fox, but Deadpool 3 is being taken under the wing of Marvel studios and will be the first ever R-rated movie in the MCU.
Marvel is, of course, owned by Disney, but one of the writers on the project insists it will maintain it’s edgy and dark humour that fans have grown to love.
Writer Rhett Resse said: “[Disney] have been very supportive with regard to that. Now when it comes to a particular joke, if we cross a line, maybe we’ll hear at some point, ‘Maybe not that joke.’
“But I think they’ve been incredibly supportive of what we’re doing, because obviously we were doing it separate from them for a long time, and I think they’ve seen the success and they’ve had their own even greater success.
“So hopefully it’ll be a marriage made in heaven. But we’ve definitely got their support, and that’s a great thing to feel.”
Very little has been revealed about the details of the film, but we do know that Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux- Loeglin (Bob’s Burgers) have been brought on board as writers for the project.
An official release date has not yet been revealed either, but Feige previously stated that production would begin at some point in 2022.
Speaking to Collider, the Marvel president: “It will be rated R, and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor.
“We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”
There have also been rumours that Hugh Jackman will be reprising his role as Wolverine for Deadpool 3, and he recently teased fans on Twitter with a cryptic picture and caption.
