Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck get married in Las Vegas: ‘Love is patient’

Jenny from the Block is officially Jennifer Affleck!

After an on-off-and-back-on-again engagement, actress and singer Jennifer Lopez tied the knot to Hollywood star Ben Affleck in a low-key ceremony in Las Vegas. 

JLo confirmed the news via her OnTheJLo newsletter to fans on Sunday (17th July) in which she told loyal followers that the nuptials took place at the infamous Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. 

In the letter, Jennifer wrote: “Last night we flew to Vegas, stood in line for a licence with four other couples, all making the same journey to the wedding capital of the world.”

During the wedding, the celebrity couple read their vows in front of “the best witnesses you could ever imagine”, all while wearing a “dress from an old movie and a jacket from Ben’s closet.”

Bennifer kept it pretty simple for their wedding, which happened at “twelve thirty in the morning in the tunnel of love drive through” alongside their children from previous relationships. 

Jennifer shares Emme and Max from her marriage to singer Marc Anthony, while Ben has Violet, Seraphina and Samuel with Jennifer Garner. 

Making a reference to the fact the couple were originally engaged in 2003 before breaking up a year later, Jennifer added: “Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient.

The loving post was signed off: “With love, Mrs Jennifer Lynn Affleck.” 

Fans were tipped off that the famous pair finally made things official after the Clark County Clerk’s Office in Nevada had it on their records that Jennifer would take her new husband’s last name. 

County Clerk Lynn Marie Goya, who runs the Marriage Licence Bureau, told PA news: “I can confirm that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez obtained a married licence last night, but their marriage certificate has not yet been filed. The licence is valid up to one year.

“If they have had a ceremony, they join Vegas A-list couples such as Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, Jon Bon Jovi and Dorothea Hurley and Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward - and the numerous couples who make up the Five Million Love Stories that make Las Vegas the Wedding Capital of the World.

“We wish Mr Affleck and Ms Lopez the same enduring love story.”

The loved-up couple first announced their fresh engagement back in April, 18 years after they called off their first scheduled trip down the aisle. After almost twenty years apart, they rekindled their romance, and confirmed things were back on track in July 2021.
