If you enjoy taking a few minutes out of your day to play online puzzle Wordle, then you'll interested to learn that it is being turned into a multiplayer board game.

Yes, while the OG online version of the game is certainly something of a solo endeavour, this new version will be a much more social experience to be enjoyed with your friends and family.

The online sensation was The New York Times earlier this year, and they have now teamed up with Hasbro to create Wordle: The Party Game.

Here’s how it works: One player thinks of a five-letter word, and then the other players have to guess what that word is. Once people have guessed, using dry-erase markers on small dry-erase boards, the person who thought of the word will then slide yellow and green tiles over the correct letters, similarly to how the online game works.

At the end of each round, you simply wipe the boards clean and go again.

Hasbro has shared news of the release of the game, with a helpful video showing how it works. Check it out here:

In case you, somehow, still don’t know what Wordle is, the game grew to prominence last year after it was invented by Josh Wardle because his partner loves playing word games.

In the online game, you have to try to guess a five-letter target word - just like in the new board game. If the letter that you guess isn’t in the target word, that letter will turn grey. If it is in the target word but in the wrong place, it will turn yellow. If it’s in the word and in the right place, it will go green. You have six attempts to get the word right.

Wordle: The Party Game will launch in North America in October. As yet, there is no release date for the game in the UK, so we might have to just make to with the online game for the time-being.
