Loving dad wears cone of shame in solidarity with his dog

A caring pet owner has donned the dreaded cone of shame in a touching - and hilarious - show of support for his dog.

We’ve all seen dogs wearing those massive collars when recovering from surgery, and we’ve all felt sorry for them as they confusedly bump into things and generally feel a bit down in the dumps, but one doggie dad has gone a step further in sympathy with his pet pooch.

The dog owner has had his unconditional love demonstrated on the internet, as one of his kids filmed him wearing the collar in solidarity with his dog, Ollie, and shared it on social media.

Ollie, who has 2.8 million followers on TikTok as @good.boy.ollie, where he is described as “the goodest good boy”. In the clip, he was filmed by Alex Morgan as he was recovering from surgery after an operation in which he had a “little lump removed from his eyelid.” The pet is sitting on Alex’s dad on the sofa, with both of them wearing cones!

Alex captions the video: “Not my dad wearing a cone to make my dog feel less lonely after his surgery.”

They added: “I swear it’s always the dads who didn’t want a dog that end up loving them the most.”

Alex’s dad is holding a cup of tea in the video, but unfortunately we don’t get to see him attempt to drink it!

The clip has been viewed over 2.1 million times on TikTok, with commenters absolutely loving the owner’s devotion to the dog! One person said: “This is too wholesome!”

Another wrote: “Not all heroes wear capes… they wear cones.” 

Someone else called them: “The lampshade club.”

And as for Ollie’s recovery? Alex says: “He’s all better now!”
