Who didn't love the 1990's time-travelling TV series? Starring Scott Bakula and the late, great Dean Stockwell, the iconic show is set to have a modern day makeover. And we can't wait.

Based on the era-hopping physicist and his cigar-loving sidekick, the pair starred in 97 episodes from 1989 to 1993 and showed Bakula 'leaping' into different people's bodies in order to help them, with a little bit of guidance from his astral buddy.

According to Deadline, Bakula (aka Dr. Sam Beckett) will not be jumping back into his time-swapping shoes but is involved, while Stockwell sadly passed away in November aged 85.

Bakula spoke recently about a possible Quantum Leap reboot and shared: "The rights were a mess for years. I don't know if they’re even sorted out now. That’s always been the biggest complication."

Speaking about the original series creator Don Bellisario, Bakula said that "he would always say, 'I can’t write it without thinking of you and Dean'".

An exciting logline from NBC says: "It's been 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished.

"Now a new team has been assembled to restart the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it."

Fans commented online: "Hopefully you can put right, what once went wrong and bring Dr Sam Beckett home."

Another added: "Best show ever made...no pressure!"

A third penned: "If Scott Bakula doesn't become Al you're missing the biggest opportunity!"

Bring him Bak(ula) now.
