The supermodel is trading catwalks for recording studios, but her first EDM bop almost never happened because of one music legend in particular.

Heidi just dropped her new track Chai Tea with Heidi, in collaboration with rap icon Snoop Dogg.

According to Heidi herself, she’s been a big fan of Snoop ‘for decades’ and in the most Hollywood way ever, the model simply picked up the phone to ‘cold-call’ Snoop in the hopes he’d say yes.

Heidi first got the idea to swap modelling for a microphone last year at the end of Germany’s Next Top Model, when someone suggested Heidi should do the theme song for the next series.

Speaking to DailyMail.com, Heidi said: “You don't have to ask me twice to sing something on the stage.”

Once that inspiration hit, Heidi explained she was determined to get Snoop on board, and having seen him in the same LA circles, she just decided to go for it by calling him up.

Snoop didn’t take much convincing to be a part of the EDM track, but one person they did need permission off was much harder to track down.

The song involves a sample of Rod Stewart’s 1983 track Baby Jane, with the lyrics ‘When I give me heart again/I know it’s gonna last forever’ being included.

Despite her bursting-at-the-seams showbiz Rolodex, Heidi couldn't find anyone who knew Rod personally to get his deets, and it was getting very close to the wire.

She added: “We did already all the recording and we did the music video and I still could not get a hold of Rod Stewart.”

But as luck would have it, Heidi’s Beverly Hills colourist Tracey Cunningham also had Rod's daughter Kimberly on the books, and she was more than happy to get them connected.

After firing off an email to the legendary singer, Heidi started to panic when seven weeks went by without so much as a peep out of Rod.

Fearing she might have to bin the whole thing off, Heidi did what so many of us do in a panic and forget to check the spam box, and luckily for her, there was a response from Rod waiting.

Feeling relieved, Heidi continued: “He actually emailed me back immediately [saying] 'this is so fun, yes, you get my thumbs up.' I would have been in big trouble!”

Thank goodness for that! Fans can enjoy Chai Tea with Heidi now, while the music video is set to make an appearance very soon.
