Scarlett Moffatt will host a new documentary about Tourette's Syndrome and tics

The Gogglebox and I'm A Celeb star will talk about her own experiences with tics from when she was growing up.

Scarlett Moffatt has confirmed she is working on a documentary that will focus on the condition.

It's been said that since the pandemic started, there has been an increase in the number of young people that have experienced either, or both, of the conditions.

Doctors and psychologists reported that they have been seeing more young people than ever before with the issues.

Scarlett told The Sun about her experiences for the Channel 4 documentary: "This is something I feel incredibly passionate about as I suffered with facial tics when diagnosed with Bell's palsy [temporary weakness or lack of movement affecting the face] as a child."

 She added: "I wish there was this kind of information and education available back then, as it's something so many young people have to deal with."

Scarlett was diagnosed with the condition when she was just 11-years-old.

For the new programme, Scarlett will meet industry experts, scientists, a group of Tourette's TikTok influencers, charity campaigners and more.

She will also meet the neurologists who are treating the young people that experience the condition.

Back in 2016, Scarlett wrote in her autobiography about her experiences: "I was doing a performance for my mum and dad – I used to put on little shows for them – when all of a sudden, my mouth just drooped and I remember standing in front of the mirror and just screaming."

"My eye dropped, I couldn’t speak properly, I got all slurred, and my mum and dad thought I was putting it on."

Scarlett hopes the documentary will raise awareness and help others.
