Villanelle and Eve are returning to our screens early next year, and we can’t wait!
The fourth and final series of the hit BBC show is set to land in 2022, and a new teaser trailer shared on the Killing Eve’s official US Twitter page has given us a glimpse of what we can expect. In the short clip, we get a super-quick recap of what happened in series three, including Villanelle and Eve’s kiss, and Eve killing Raymond. We then see new scenes, including Villanelle attacking someone in one of her more elaborate outfits, this time as a clown. We also see Eve in an empty theatre, and Fiona Shaw's character Carolyn Martens spitting at someone or something off-camera. We also get a peak at what appear to be a couple of new characters.
Meanwhile, in a voiceover, Carolyn says: "Do you ever think what might have happened if we didn't do what we did? People like us aren't made for happy lives or happy endings.”
The teaser ends with Villanelle (played by Jodie Comer), holding her arm and seemingly injured, alongside Eve (played by Sandra Oh), who is sitting on a powered scooter. “Want a ride?” Eve asks.
You can have a look at the clip, which is simply captioned, “Actions have consequences” here:
This new trailer follows some recently released official images which show some religious iconography, and a previous teaser, which saw Villanelle’s pink dress, along with postcards, a stuffed toy and motorcycle helmet going up in flames.
The upcoming fourth series of the BBC show will see Laura Neal replace Suzanne Heathcote as head writer. The first series was written by Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge, while Promising Young Woman's Emerald Fennell was in charge of series two. Neal, Waller-Bridge, Sandra Oh, Sally Woodward Gentle, Lee Morris, Gina Mingacci, and Damon Thomas will executive produce.
Killing Eve lands in the US on 27th February 2022. Whilst no exact date has been set for the eight-episode series to air on British telly, it is expected to arrive at a similar time.
