Never have we been so obsessed with a sausage. Saturday night saw 10.6million tune in to see Joss Stone revealed as the meaty talent.

An average of 8.6m people - and a grand total of 10.6m - watched the final over the weekend crowning it the biggest live entertainment TV audience of 2021.

The talented Sausage took the crown and beat Badger and Robin - but the audience were gob-smacked as to who it really was.

For weeks viewers were sure it was Stacey Solomon and were shocked by the unmasking which revealed singer Joss Stone.

Former singer Stacey had told fans that she definitely wasn't Sausage - but no one believed her.

Badger and Robin were also unmasked and unveiled as Ne-Yo and Aston Merrygold.

Kevin Lygo, ITV’s Managing Director, Media and Entertainment, said of the huge ratings success: “In these testing times, we’re delighted that The Masked Singer has brought some escapist joy and light relief to so many viewers at home.

"At the end of a long week in lockdown we’re all coming together and trying to guess who’s dressed as a giant sausage, and quite frankly, it’s been a brilliantly entertaining tonic.”

Winner Joss shared: "Well what a relief to no longer be a secret sausage! It was hard to keep it in as you can imagine. it’s one of my proudest moments!

"Big thank you to @staceysolomon and @sheridansmithster for taking the heat whilst I hid in the kitchen. This truly was the funniest gig I have ever done I am so happy to be part of it. What a laugh and a half!"
