The announcement came via Instagram with a heartwarming video montage featuring some very familiar faces, all celebrating the end of filming.
The cast includes Rory Alexander and Tony Curran, both of whom are well-loved by Outlander enthusiasts.
The post read: "The cast of Outlander: #BloodOfMyBlood reporting in live to announce… that’s an official wrap on Season 1! ft. Blood of My Blood will focus on Jamie Fraser and Claire Randall's parents, with new stills giving fans a glimpse at new stars Hermione Corfield, Jeremy Irvine, Harriet Slater and Jamie Roy as characters Henry, Julia, Ellen and Brian.
The show, which makes its debut on streaming service Starz next year, will follow the two couples and their respective love stories over two time periods.
The mastermind behind the Outlander franchise, Diana Gabaldon, is reportedly thrilled about the new series.
Showrunner Matthew B. Roberts previously shared his excitement for the spin-off, hinting at the dramatic and romantic themes fans can expect.
He said: "[It will] explore what lengths a person will go to find love in a time when love is considered a luxury, and when marriages are made strategically, often for political or financial gain.
"The title is a nod to Jamie Fraser’s marriage vow to Claire, and there will be several names and faces that Outlander fans will know and recognise."
Unsurprisingly, fans wasted no time in expressing their enthusiasm in the comments section.
One fan gushed: "I absolutely cannot wait. The midges will have been 100% worth it when they all realise how absolutely cherished and worshipped they are about to be for years to come by this fandom!"
Another echoed the sentiment: "Can’t get over how spot on the casting is. So looking forward to watching it!"
And a third fan chimed in: "Oh wow, the casting was spot on!!!"
The excitement continued with comments like: "Cast looks incredible! I’m so excited!" and "Cannot wait to see this amazing show," accompanied by a string of crying emojis.
It's clear that Blood of My Blood has already won over the hearts of Outlander devotees, who eagerly anticipate its premiere.
