Vogue Williams popped into the Virgin Radio studios today (31st May) to talk about her new podcast, The Apple and The Tree.

Chatting with Ryan Tubridy on his mid-morning show, the Irish model and podcast presenter opened up about the “brave” parents and adult children who open up about their lives on the show.

Asked to give an elevator pitch for the show, Vogue explained: “It’s a conversation between an adult parent and their adult child… they’re really open and honest conversations about things that they’ve wanted to talk to their parents about for a long time.”

She continued: “Although some of [the conversations] are incredibly sad, it’s so lovely to listen to real, honest people talk about something that’s so important to them, and it’s so brave of them as well.

“I would never be able to do that with my family,” Vogue then admitted. “Like, there’s definitely things that everyone feels like they should talk about with their family, but sometimes - I don’t know if it’s an Irish thing or what it is - you feel like you can’t.”

Explaining her involvement in the podcast, the show host revealed she had quite an easy time as the focus of the show means there wasn’t much need if any for her to intervene much or drive the interviews anywhere as a host.

“They’re just left to have their conversation,” she explained. “We don’t need to prompt them or anything like that. I chat to them at the start and at the end, and basically eavesdrop on the conversation, like what we’re all doing…

“I’ve cried in some episodes, I’ve laughed in lots of episodes, and I just think it’s a really nice medium for them to sit and chat,” she added.

The Apple and The Tree series one is currently being released and is available to listen now on all podcasting sites, plus Vogue revealed the show is currently casting for series two.
