After what seems like an eternity of delays, rewrites, and studio shifts, Netflix swooped in to rescue this long-awaited sequel.

Directed by Mark Molloy, who makes his feature directorial debut, the film sees Eddie Murphy stepping back into those well-worn shoes of Axel Foley, the wisecracking, street-smart Detroit detective who always seems to find himself in the most outrageous situations.

The trailer kicks off with a bang—literally. Axel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character are in hot pursuit of some bad guys in a helicopter.

Cue the iconic Axel F theme that sends a nostalgic shiver down your spine.

But in true Beverly Hills Cop fashion, things go hilariously awry when Gordon-Levitt’s character reveals he has no idea how to fly a helicopter, leading to a spectacular crash landing on a golf course.

Of course, Axel Foley winds up in handcuffs, and in classic Axel style, he doesn't miss a beat, quipping about the 'Fisher-Price looking squad car' that’s hauling him off.

And it doesn't stop there. Taylour Paige joins the cast as Jane, Axel Foley's grown-up daughter.

In a classic move, Axel calls Jane from jail, only for her to hang up on him the moment she hears he’s back in Beverly Hills.

But when Billy’s life is threatened, Axel is back in action, and the mayhem that ensues is nothing short of epic.

From trashing a helicopter and a snowplow to wrecking a massive lorry, the trailer teases that Axel Foley hasn’t lost his knack for causing chaos.

Paul Reiser’s character, seemingly on cleanup duty, hilariously instructs Foley not to damage any civic property—advice that goes hilariously unheeded.

Molloy, stepping into the director's chair for the first time, couldn't have chosen a more high-stakes project.

The original Beverly Hills Cop hit theatres in 1984, followed by sequels in 1987 and 1994.

Despite numerous rumours and false starts for a fourth film, Axel Foley has been absent from our screens for nearly three decades.

With Jerry Bruckheimer and Eddie Murphy producing, and a script by Will Beall, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F promises to capture the magic of the original while bringing it into the modern era.

The star-studded cast includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Taylour Paige, Kevin Bacon, and returning favourites Judge Reinhold and John Ashton.

Here’s the official synopsis to get you even more pumped: Detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is back on the beat in Beverly Hills.

After his daughter’s life is threatened, she (Taylour Paige) and Foley team up with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy.

For those who have missed Axel’s infectious laugh and his knack for getting into—and out of—trouble, this trailer is a delightful return to form.

And for those new to the franchise, it’s a perfect introduction to the kind of chaos only Axel Foley can deliver.

With action, humour, and a sprinkle of 80s charm, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F is gearing up to be one of the summer’s hottest releases.

So, grab your banana (for the tailpipe, of course), get comfy, and get ready for Axel Foley to bring the heat back to Beverly Hills.

Because if there’s one thing we know, it’s that wherever Axel goes, adventure—and a whole lot of laughs—are sure to follow.

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F will release on Netflix 3rd July.
