Reacher fans needn’t worry about their favourite star moving on from his action-hero role anytime soon.

Lead star Alan Ritchson shared in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he has no plans on leaving the show in the near future.

“I owe it to the audience to explore as many of these books as my body will allow,” the actor said, adding: “And I owe it to the people that took a shot on me when I was a huge risk for them. They have given me a real career.”

Also interviewed in the article, Amazon and MGM Studios chief Jennifer Salke only had positive words to say about the future of the show and Ritchson’s role in it.

“We’ll have Alan as long as he will play Jack Reacher,” she said. “No end in sight for that. [So] hopefully, that’s for a very, very, very long time.”

Ritchson has opened up in the past about how prior to Reacher, he struggled with getting roles to pursue his love of acting. Elaborating on how this still affects his performance as Jack today, the star shared: “To me, Reacher has and always will be a fight to prove that [the casting team] made the right decision.

“On set, I am always thinking ‘How can I work hard enough to make them feel good?’ It’ll never go away,” he said. “What got me ready for Reacher was all the losses that I took early on.”

Salke also praised Ritchson for how open he is about his mental health and the personal journey which he went on to where he is today. “What makes him unique is that he is very brave and open in talking about mental health,” she said.

“He’s a modern leading man in that sense, and he comes to it all so honestly, through life experience. Though it’s been tough for him, he will share his story with anybody.”

Reacher is available to watch on Prime Video.
