For the Love of Dogs is set to return with a new presenter following the death of Paul O’Grady last year.

The beloved comedian and TV star sadly died “unexpectedly but peacefully” at the age of 67 on Tuesday 28th March 2023. During his glittering career, he brought his love of animals to the small screen, with Paul O’Grady: For The Love of Dogs, which ran for 11 series.

Who is replacing Paul O'Grady in For the Love of Dogs?

This Morning and Great British Bake Off host Alison Hammond will take over for the upcoming new series, 

For the Love of Dogs with Alison Hammond will see the TV presenter dish out the dog treats and set tails wagging.

Where will the new series of For the Love of Dogs be set?

The series will once again take viewers behind the scenes at Battersea Dogs & Cats home, with Alison helping the animals to find new families to love and playing her part to help staff and volunteers to care for them.

In the first episode, she will meet a tiny three-week old pup who was thrown away in a bin, a boisterous terrier cross who needs to put his energy to good use and a spaniel with an eye problem.

When does series 12 of For the Love of Dogs start?

The docuseries will return at 8pm on 16th April.

What does Alison Hammond say about taking over from Paul O’Grady?

In a statement, the presenter said: “I am very aware that I can never replace the iconic Paul in this wonderful series. But if I can continue to shine a light on the brilliant work done at Battersea and help to tell the stories of these beautiful dogs, then it will be an absolute privilege to give it my all.”

She added: "I can't wait to share the joy of their searches for new loving forever homes and hopefully make lots of furry friends of my own along the way!"
