2024 has got off to a great cinematic start, but with awards season fully underway it can be easy to lose track of which new films are about to be released in cinemas.
Thankfully, virginradio.co.uk has taken a look at everything due for release this March, and drawn up this useful list of what great films are in store for us on the big screen this month.
Kicking the month off to a strong start will be the much-anticipated sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune novels.
Opening on Friday 1st March, Dune: Part Two begins where Part One left off, joining the franchise’s lead Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) as he seeks revenge on those who brought ruin to his family. Florence Pugh, Austin Butler and more join the cast for this second film of a potential three from Villeneuve.
This supernatural horror film hopes to frighten its audience with the concept of forgotten toys and imaginary friends.
When Jessica (DeWanda Wise) returns to her childhood home with her family, she is at first charmed when her youngest step-daughter Alice (Pyper Braun) grows close to her old stuffed bear Chauncey. But events take a sinister turn, and soon enough it becomes obvious to Jessica that Chauncey is much more threatening than she originally thought.
They ain’t afraid of no ghosts! This fifth film in the Ghostbusters franchise is a sequel to 2021’s Ghostbusters Afterlife, and sees Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard all return to their roles in the Spengler family and team up with New York’s original Ghostbusters.
James Acaster and Kumail Nanjiani have also joined the cast, which also stars returning Ghostbusters icons Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts and William Atherton.
Be sure not to miss out on this fascinating deep-dive into the history of Nickelback, showing in select cinemas worldwide from 27th to 30th March.
Produced by Virgin Radio’s own Ben Jones, this feature-length documentary will explore the Canadian rock band’s story from their origin, and take a deep dive into the effects of their divisive fame.
Eight years on from Kung Fu Panda 3, finally everyone’s favourite martial-arts practising bear returns to the big screen, voiced again by the sensational Jack Black.
Kung Fu Panda 4 follows Po as he trains to become the Valley of Peace’s spiritual leader, and quickly find himself coming up against a dangerous shape-shifting sorceress in the process. In addition to Black, the film also features performances from stars including Dustin Hoffman, Bryan Cranston, Awkwafina and Viola Davis, to name just a few.
Taking on Po in the battle for box office supremacy this final March weekend is this latest Titan team-up featuring Godzilla and King Kong.
Expanding on the already established lore of Warner Bros’ Monsterverse, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire unites the two Kaiju against an even more deadly threat which could affect the whole Earth.
