Having starred together in Brokeback Mountain and rom-com Love & Other Drugs, Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway might be about to team up again, this time for an acclaimed TV series.

It is being reported that the two Hollywood stars are being eyed up for the second season of hit Netflix series, Beef.

According to Deadline, the show is looking to bring in some big stars for the next season, and Donnie Darko’s Gyllenhaal and Les Miserables star Hathaway are two of the names being mentioned.

The publication reports that the storyline in season two will revolve around two feuding couples, with Charles Melton from May December and Priscilla’s Cailee Spaeny also “being courted” to play the other couple.

Whilst Deadline says that “this is early, and no deals are in place”, it is understood that Netflix and production company A24 are “ready to get the second season into production by late summer or fall.”

Season one of Beef, created by Lee Sung Jin, stars The Walking Dead’s Steven Yeun as Danny, a down-on-his-luck contractor that gets involved in a massive road-rage incident with unfulfilled small business owner Amy (played by comedian Ali Wong).

The incident turns into a feud between the pair, which increasingly consumes their lives and threatens to destroy their families and businesses.

The series has been sweeping up awards of late, including five Primetime Emmys. Yeun and Wong both won the awards for Outstanding Lead Actor/Actress in a Limited Series or Movie, and the show also won Outstanding Limited Or Anthology Series.

Beef has also been a hit with fans, and season one currently has a 87 percent approval rating on review aggregating site, Rotten Tomatoes. The critics’ rating stands at an incredibly impressive 98 percent.
