The recent Golden Globe winner believes a spin-off of the Succession would be a 'horrible idea' but, if he had to pick, there is one character he thinks 'would make a good spin off show'.

Kieran Culkin, celebrated for his role as Roman Roy in the hit series Succession, has shared his thoughts on the possibility of a spin-off from the show.

While generally skeptical about the concept, he revealed a specific character he believes could carry a spin-off successfully.

In a conversation with Variety at the Golden Globes Awards, Culkin expressed his reservations about the idea of a Succession spin-off, stating: "I feel a spin-off is a horrible idea."

Drawing a parallel with the popular 90's sitcom Frasier, which was a successful spin-off of Cheers, he acknowledged that not every show can replicate that success.

In his own words, the lead actor winner said: "Remember Frasier? Yeah, we all loved Frasier, but not every show can be Frasier."

However, Culkin didn't entirely dismiss the notion of a spin-off series.

He singled out Nicholas Braun's character, Greg Hirsch, as a potential lead for a new show.

"Cousin Greg would make a good spin-off show... That would be kind of fun," he remarked, envisioning the character's comedic potential.

Culkin even suggested that his character, Roman Roy, could make occasional appearances for 'entrance applause.'

"That’s why I would do it," he added.

The actor's openness to the idea of a spin-off series comes on the heels of his Golden Globe win for Best Actor in a TV Drama. Reflecting on the moment, Culkin expressed gratitude, saying: "Thanks to Succession, I have been [in this room] a couple of times... It's nice but I accepted I was never going to be on the stage. So this is a nice moment."

Culkin wasn't the only Succession star to receive recognition at the Golden Globes. His co-stars Sarah Snook (Shiv Roy) and Matthew Macfadyen (Tom Wambsgans) also secured wins for Best Actress in a TV Drama and Best Supporting Actor, respectively. The series itself has garnered widespread acclaim for its portrayal of the Roy family's intricate power dynamics, making it a critical and audience favorite.

While a 'Succession' spin-off remains speculative, Kieran Culkin's suggestion of a series centered on Cousin Greg has sparked intrigue among fans, adding an exciting dimension to the future possibilities of the 'Succession' universe.

Succession aired on HBO in the US, and is available on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
