This Morning fans have called for one particular TV pair to 'rescue' the show following Holly Willoughby's shock departure after 14 years.

Anchor Holly, 42, left viewers stunned earlier this week when she suddenly announced she was quitting the ITV show.

The much-loved programme has seen a host of presenters take to the sofa alongside Holly following Phillip Schofield's exit earlier this year.

Now, fans have urged that their replacements be none other than dynamic duo Emma Willis and Rylan Clark, who have previously presented together on This Morning and Big Brother.

Viewers expressed their thoughts on social media and wrote: "This duo would actually save This Morning."

A second agreed: "Yes @EmmaWillis and @Rylan they would be brilliant together, hope you're watching #ThisMorning."

A third added: "Rylan and Emma ...omg yes yes yes!!!"

Holly's surprising statement landed on Tuesday night. The mum-of-three wrote: "I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning.

"To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so so much.

"This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we've done together.

"Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you.

"Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers. You've been so loyal so supportive and the very best company every day."

Honouring This Morning's OG presenters, Holly added: "Richard and Judy said 'we only look after this show, it will always belong to the viewers'.

"It's been an honour to just be part of its story and I know this story has many chapters left to go.

"Sadly, however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family.

"I will miss you all so much. Holly."
