Tonight’s (10th October) episode of The Great British Bake Off might end in tears for one baker in particular!

It’s Bread Week in the famous tent this week, and the remaining bakers will have to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith with their doughy delights.

While often a strong week and a chance to shine, Bread Week doesn’t look too promising for Dana, who finds herself in a spot of bother with her stand mixer.

In a preview clip of tonight’s episode, the Essex-based database administrator pours her dough into the appliance, explaining to the camera: “I’m doing the kneading in the mixer just to save myself some arm strength.”

“I like heat so I’m doing chipotle smoked cheddar and bacon…it’s literally just amplifying that smokey taste, so if [Paul] says he can’t taste the flavour, that’s a lie.”

It’s at this point that things go terribly wrong for Dana, as the sound of smashing glass permeates through the tent.

Pieces of the glass bowl fly across her work bench, much to the shock of her fellow bakers.

“I meant to do that,” she joked. “You can taste shards of glass, yummy!”

Dana will no doubt hope her accident won’t cause her to join the growing list of eliminated bakers, with a second baker sent home from the competition during Biscuit Week.

After a challenging showstopper, technical and signature, it was Keith who was eventually let go from the series, but he took it all in his stride.

“I feel fine,” he said. “There’s nothing sad about this moment. I’ve had the most fantastic time. I don’t know how many hours I’m going to spend in the rest of my life banging on about this.”

In a note shared on the official GBBO X page, he said: “"Participation in The Great British Bake Off has been the most fantastic and rewarding experience of my life..."
