An erotic thriller starring Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor is on its way to Netflix, and it’s coming sooner rather than later.

Fair Play was supposed to be coming to the streaming service on 13th October, but the movie is now set to land a whole week earlier, on 6th October. Before this, it will screen in US cinemas from 29th September.

Dynevor, who is best known for her role as Daphne, the fourth Bridgerton child, plays Emily in the new film, which also stars Solo: A Star Wars Story’s Alden Ehrenreich as Luke. The duo play a recently engaged young couple who are keeping their relationship secret because they both work as financial analysts at the same cut-throat hedge fund firm in New York, and their relationship is forbidden by their employer.

Things begins to unravel for the pair when their power dynamic shifts irrevocably as a consequence of Emily getting an unexpected promotion

The movie also stars Rich Sommer (who was acclaimed for playing Harry Crane in Mad Men), and the ever-excellent Eddie Marsan (The World’s End, Ray Donovan). They play two of the lead characters’ coworkers at the One Crest Capital hedge fund. Sebastian de Souza, Patrick Fischler and Geraldine Somerville also feature.

The trailer for the movie opens by showing the couple happy in their relationship. “We’re getting married,” they say to each other. “I wish we could tell the whole world,” Luke adds.

However, we then see things start to go pear shaped, when Emily gets a promotion over Luke.

Fair Play marks the directorial debut of Chloe Domont, who told Netflix in an interview earlier this year: “I wanted to reckon with some unresolved feelings I had in the past, specifically dating men who I felt were threatened by either my ambition or any little bits of accomplishments.”

Fair Play lands on Netflix on 6th October.
