With Henry Cavill on his way out, the new face of Superman has been confirmed.

David Corenswet, who starred in Netflix’s The Politician and Hollywood, will take over from Cavill for the upcoming superhero flick, called Superman: Legacy.

Marvellous Mrs. Maisel actress Rachel Brosnahan will star as Lois Lane - Superman's love interest who had previously been played by Amy Adams.

DC film boss and Superman director James Gunn confirmed the news via social media after it was published by Deadline. Their report suggested both David and Rachel went through “months of audition tapes and in-person screen tests” to bag the roles.

Resharing Deadline’s story, James added: “Accurate! (They are not only both incredible actors, but also wonderful people).”

Fans gave their two-cents in response to the casting news, with one fan tweeting: “Change is good. New film, new start and new actors. Looking forward to seeing how this all comes together!”

Another wrote: “Absolutely looking forward to some dc goodness ahead!!”

According to reports, the search for the new Clark Kent and Lois Lane has taken months, with the likes of Nicholas Hoult and Emma Mackey having their names thrown into the ring.

That search kicked off after Cavill confirmed he would not be donning the cape again for the next leg of the DC Universe in December.

Despite announcing his big comeback as the beloved superhero in October 2022, only two months later, the actor shared via Instagram that he would “no longer be playing the comic book character” after meeting with new DC Studios heads Gunn and Peter Safran.

In his statement, Henry wrote: “I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it's sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman.

“After Being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn't the easiest, but that's life. The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes.”

It came mere months after the star appeared as Superman during the end-credits of DC Comics movie Black Adam, starring Dwayne Johnson.

Henry first played Superman back in 2013’s Man of Steel, before reprising his role in 2016’s Batman v Superman, and 2017’s Justice League.
