Michael Sheen is set to star in and direct a new BBC drama, which will also feature actors from It's a Sin and Gavin & Stacey.
Three-part series The Way will be Sheen’s TV directorial debut, and will see him reunite with writer James Graham. The two worked together on Quiz, about Charles Ingram, a former British army major who caused a major scandal after being caught cheating his way to winning £1 million.
The Staged and Good Omens star will also team up with documentary filmmaker Adam Curtis for The Way, which focuses on the Driscoll family, who face the prospect of having to leave the country they've called home during civil unrest.
The cast will include Steffan Rhodri, who played the iconic Dave Coaches in Gavin & Stacey. He also portrayed Hobert Hightower in House of the Dragon, and was Reg Cattermole in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.
The actor took to Twitter to share the news, saying: "Yep - it's all going on."
Another actor who has signed up for the series is Callum Scott Howells, who played Colin in acclaimed Channel 4 drama, It's a Sin.
Beauty and the Beast star Luke Evans will play a mercenary in pursuit of the Driscolls as they attempt to flee the country, while Mali Harries (Keeping Faith, The Indian Doctor) and Sophie Melville (The Pact) also feature.
In a statement, Sheen said: "I feel very lucky to get to work every day with these phenomenal actors. We’ve always had so much acting talent here in Wales and I’m very grateful to have the opportunity to tell this extraordinary story with the very best at work today."
The Way is described as “is an emotional and darkly humorous story about what it means to be faced with impossible choices” and the narrative will be set over three hour-long episodes. Filming has recently begun in Port Talbot, Wales, but no release date has been announced at this stage.
