Disney announce centenary plans with adorable 100th anniversary Super Bowl advert

The history of Disney came to life in a heartwarming look at its 100th anniversary celebrations. 

The animation studios will mark 100-years worth of incredible projects on 16th October, and used the Super Bowl to debut their centenary plans. 

The Disney100 - Special Look, which aired during the massive sporting event, featured scenes from iconic Disney films, series, stage productions, theme parks, and fans, as well as a collection of inspiring words from Walt Disney, calling on the shared memories and nostalgia that have given Disney a special place in the hearts of audiences across the globe.

Alongside the sweet 90-second clip, Disney also confirmed their UK and European plans for their 100th year. 

On Saturday 18th February, Disney100: The Exhibition will have its world premiere in Philadelphia, with the European premiere taking place in Munich on 18th April 2023. The exhibition, which will display original artwork, costumes, props and memorabilia, will then travel to the ExCel in London in the autumn. 

Disney100: The Concert will also hit the UK with an arena tour from 31st May to 8th June Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, and Bournemouth.

The Concert promises to be a multimedia experience with seminal music moments from Disney’s history including songs from Beauty & the Beast, Mary Poppins and Encanto. 

Disney will also celebrate the friendships of Buzz and Woody, Lilo & Stitch and Timon and Pumbaa with Wonder of Friendship: The Experience. 

Launching in London from 12th to 21st May, guests will have the chance to venture through 1,000 square metres of different experiences across four rooms, including Alice in Wonderland, The Lion King and Mickey and Friends.

Elsewhere at the Super Bowl, R&B royalty Rihanna brought the house down with her 2023 half-time show, during which she revealed that she’s expecting her second child

Rihanna’s half-time show was her first live performance in seven years, and saw her deliver a medley of iconic tunes from a floating stage, before descending onto a stage on the pitch while dancers dressed in white busted moves around her.

The setlist included big hits such as Umbrella, Diamonds, Better Have My Money, Rude Boy and Umbrella, as well Pour It Up, Run This Town, All of the Lights and Wild Thoughts.
